Kia ora tātou.
Nau mai ki taku paetukutuku, hei whakamōhio noa atu ki ngā tini āhuatanga o taku mahi. Welcome to my website, here to share with you the many aspects of my work.
He uri tēnei nō Ngāti Apa, nō Ngāti Ruanui, nō Ngāti Tūwharetoa anō hoki. Ko Jase Te Patu tōku ingoa.
I have worn many hats in my life—New Zealand sportsman, Les Mills choreographer and trainer, international performer, radio host, TV presenter, master facilitator, international speaker, and now Founder and CEO of a school-based mental health charity. Each role has shaped my journey, leading me to my path today.
I’ve also known the heartbreak of losing loved ones to suicide and seen firsthand the ripple effects of mental distress in our communities. These experiences sparked my calling to step up, determined to make a difference.
For over 32 years, I’ve shared tools for wellbeing in every form possible. Our journey into schools began with M3 Mindfulness in 2018, where I introduced Māori pūrākau, mindfulness practices, and movement to tamariki in ECEs and schools across Aotearoa. These tools empower our young ones with self-awareness, resilience, and the wisdom of their own culture.
Now, through Hauora Aotearoa, we’re building on this foundation, expanding our mission to support rangatahi with a holistic, culturally rooted approach to mental health. With the guidance and blessing of Tā Mason Durie, who has encouraged us to “live well, learn well, and lead well,” our vision is to create generational change – one that uplifts our school communities to thrive rather than simply survive!
Beyond my work in schools, I’m deeply passionate about facilitating Mental Health First Aid for adults and youth. It’s an honour to empower workplaces and communities with the skills to recognise and respond to mental health needs, creating safer, more supportive environments for all.
As an international speaker, MC, and facilitator, I’m driven to share messages of hope, resilience, and wellbeing with audiences worldwide, helping inspire positive change.
Whether in schools or on stage, my mission remains the same – to equip our people with the tools to lead healthier, happier lives across Aotearoa.
Working alongside you and your iwi, hapū, hāpori, pakihi, or whānau would be my privilege.
